With all the anti-NRA protests that have occurred and are coming, as well as the media bias against guns on the rise, NRA memberships are still surging. Since the Parkland, Florida, high school massacre that killed 17 and wounded 15, anti-gun press has spiked off the charts. But it would seem that Americans are more determined than ever to secure their right to bear arms.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Google searches for “NRA membership” rose “4,900 percent” since the Florida attack. That rise occurred at a time when many Democrats, media personalities and Hollywood celebrities were denouncing the NRA in the shooting that took 17 lives in a gun-free zone. Florida has since passed laws that allow teachers to train and be armed, as well as adding armed security to schools.
“To every lying member of the media, to every Hollywood phony, to the role model athletes who use their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents…Your Time is running out. The clock starts now."

Hollywood has come unglued in the wake of the latest shooting. This unhinged attitude has been epitomized by writer-director Judd Apatow, actress Mia Farrow and comedian Chelsea Handler, all of whom responded to the Florida school attack by calling out the NRA to drive a wedge between voters and pro-gun legislators. Alec Baldwin has also come out and has stated it is time to rethink the Second Amendment.
At CNN’s gun control townhall, the media and the handpicked audience for CNN were incredibly hostile to the NRA’s spokesperson, Dana Loesch. They called her a murderer and worse. The Guardian reported that one student spoke to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), asking, “Can you tell me right now you will not accept a single donation from the NRA?” Both Rubio and Loesch stood their ground and handled every question and attack very professionally and expertly.
We have to elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA in November. We have an opportunity to elect candidates who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot. It is disgusting how many times this has happened and Republicans do nothing. You all have blood on your hands.

After that, more than a dozen companies severed ties with the National Rifle Association, ditching discounted rates and fares for NRA members. In turn, NRA members and those who cherish their Second Amendment rights have boycotted these companies… and there are millions of these people. It has also caused the membership in the NRA to massively surge as many people who would not have joined before are now lining up to be a part of the NRA. Most Americans are equating attacks on the NRA with attacks on the right to bear arms. They also see it as proof of media bias.
The Daily Mail quoted Cleta Mitchell, a former National Rifle Association board member and former Oklahoma lawmaker, who said, “There is no one. NO ONE. Who joins the NRA for a discount on a rental car. You can rest assured that the NRA will not lose a single member as a result of this. If anything, it should spur people to join the NRA as a means of demonstrating that we who believe in the Second Amendment will not be bullied by these left wing multi-billion dollar corporations.”
Loesch just did an ad telling the media, politicians and Hollywood that their time is up for trying to step on the constitutional rights of Americans. She has a new show on NRA TV coming up and it should be a really good one. In an ad for her new NRA TV show, Loesch calls out “every lying member of the media,” every “Hollywood phony,” “athletes who use their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents,” and politicians “who would rather watch America burn than lose one ounce of their power.”
Of course, the left took that as a threat. I see it as a promise that the NRA and Americans are going to fight back against fascism from the left. Last year, another Loesch ad went viral when she said the only way to save the country and freedom is to “fight this violence of lies with the clenched fist of truth.”
The attacks from the left have backfired. Even Americans who don’t totally agree with the NRA are now very likely to join them just to take a stand for gun rights and freedom. Before all of this, the NRA boasted a membership of over 5 million members. Look for that number to more than double or triple now. I see that as a very positive thing.
Scripted astro-turf efforts such as the one by student David Hogg and others to call for gun control is having the opposite effect. “Thank you David Hogg for inspiring me,” one Twitter user wrote. “I gifted my husband with an NRA membership. I felt now was an important time to support them,” she continued, adding a screenshot of the membership confirmation email. Other new NRA members said they were pushed to join because of perceived media bias and the rush to condemn gun rights in the wake of the shooting, in which 17 died. “After ten minutes of CNN’s town hall “debate” I had already searched for gun safes, the closest firearms dealer near me, classes on gun safety, and an NRA membership,” wrote Robert Norman in a column for the Federalist.
“The town hall was a display of tyranny,” wrote Norman, on why it prompted him to join the NRA. “For tyranny has never come from a single person, but rather from a mob cheering for the destruction of liberty and rights from those with whom they disagree.” I could not agree more and in fact, we are getting memberships with the National Rifle Association as well. We should all thank the left for strengthening our resolve here.
