Under Pressure From The Left, Three Big Car Rental Companies Cut Ties With NRA

Published

on

In the left’s ginned up mass hysteria over gun control, they are now targeting businesses that previously supported the NRA. This time, it’s car rental companies and banks. Last week’s Parkland, Florida high school massacre has leveraged the left’s hate to pressure these companies into cutting ties with the NRA. And it’s working. There’s a boycott out there against Amazon as well for streaming NRA TV. Now, they’ve hit Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo and National for giving discounts to NRA members. All three bowed to pressure and ditched the NRA and their members. No more discounts. But they may find that backfires as there are millions of gun owners out there that will now boycott them for doing that. It works both ways.

Personally, I will not rent cars from them again. And I service clientele all over the globe. We will look elsewhere for car rental service. Enterprise caved far too easily to the gun grabbers. The NRA had no part of last week’s shooting and it was the shooter and those that failed to stop him that are to blame here. This is inexcusable. I don’t believe in boycotts, but I’m more than willing to make an exception in this case. There has been massive blowback to Enterprise over this. It’s probably not the response they thought they would get, but it’s the one they deserve.

Just to be abundantly clear here, what Enterprise and others are doing is not punishing the NRA. It is punishing their membership. Americans who don’t agree with the left are the ones truly being targeted here. And in the end it will be these companies themselves that are punished because this is going to bite them in the ass. Enterprise should not have even responded to this. Now, they’ll pay a massive price for politicizing their business. This would have blown over shortly, but now… it’s forever. They just insulted millions of Americans and alienated their customer base while doing so. Idiots. If Enterprise was looking to make a statement about gun violence, punishing their customers was not the way to do it.

This is a typical fascist tactic employed by the left. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It was originally popularized by Media Matters, the George Soros-funded, David Brock-led organization dedicated to forwarding Hillary Clinton’s political agenda; Media Matters astroturfed boycott campaigns against talk show hosts as well as the American Legislative Exchange Counsel for its connections with conservative businesses. These are communists and this is part and parcel of their playbook.

This will not generate support for gun-control. But it will separate us even more as both sides dig in. As Ben Shapiro wrote this morning, that was the point. For the Left, good policy isn’t the aim. It’s the demonization of pro-gun conservatives that matters. The three companies are owned by Enterprise Holdings Inc. All three gave public notice via Twitter that the discount program for NRA members will end next month. The battle lines are being drawn by these radicals and Americans will not give up their Second Amendment rights without one hell of a fight. When queried on the NRA, in each case, Enterprise Holdings said, “We ended the program, effective March 26.” They’ve made their bed, now they can lie in it.

In addition to Enterprise, First National Bank of Omaha, the nation’s largest privately owned bank, also announced on Thursday that it would end its contract with the NRA for a branded VISA card. They are now being boycotted as well.

The left and celebrities are rejoicing over all this. Michael Moore has even gone so far as to call the NRA a “terrorist organization.” Their meme currently is, “NRA Blood On Your Hands.” Catchy AND moronic AND a total lie. Think Progress suggested there are “at least 22 corporations that the NRA says offer incentives to NRA members.” And they are going after all of them. It remains to be seen how many will fold and how fast, but conservatives are bracing themselves for a fight here. A spokesperson confirmed this morning that Enterprise’s NRA partnership will end next month. Rival car rental brands Hertz, Avis and Budget are still listed on the NRA website. Those brands did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Hopefully, they aren’t as stupid as Enterprise. I guess we’ll see.
