This is freaking brilliant! Republican Congressman, Indiana Rep. Todd Rokita is expertly trolling Nancy Pelosi by introducing the CRUMBS Act. The act will make tax cuts even more beneficial to the American worker and bonus… he gets to take a swipe at Pelosi by doing it. The act will make the first $2,500 of any worker bonus in 2018 tax-free. Those crumbs are really piling up, Nancy. Millions of Americans have received bonuses and/or pay raises as a result of the GOP tax cuts passed in late December thanks to President Trump. Our household saw a raise in excess of $150 a month thanks to this move. Pelosi has often referred to the bonuses and tax cuts as “crumbs.” But those so-called “crumbs” mean a great deal to those who work for a living.
The bill’s full name is the “Creating Relief and Useful Middle-Class Benefits and Savings” — or “CRUMBS” Act. Here is the press release I received on it just a little bit ago:
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Todd Rokita introduced the “Creating Relief and Useful Middle-Class Benefits and Savings” (CRUMBS) Act to make bonuses received in 2018 tax-free up to $2,500 to help lower and middle-class families. The legislation follows the passage of President Trump’s tax reform, which has led to millions of Americans receiving bonuses, pay raises, and increased benefits.
“Americans are receiving thousands of dollars in bonuses and more money in their paychecks thanks to President Trump’s tax reform, but out-of-touch Democratic leaders believe they only amount to crumbs,” said Congressman Todd Rokita. “The CRUMBS Act will let Americans keep more of the money they receive as a result of President Trump’s tax reform, and allow them, not the government, to choose how best to spend their bonuses.”
In January, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi compared the thousands of dollars that Americans are receiving in bonuses to “crumbs.” The other week, President Donald Trump compared Pelosi’s “crumbs” comments to Hillary Clinton’s “deplorables,” while also noting that “these corporations giving tremendous bonuses to everybody that Nancy Pelosi called ‘crumbs.’ That could be like ‘deplorable.’ … Deplorable and crumbs? … People are getting 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 dollars. That’s not crumbs. That’s a lot of money.”
In Indiana, thousands of Hoosiers are seeing the benefits of President Trump’s tax reform in the form of higher wages, bonuses, expanded benefits, and increased investment.

Rokita prefaced the press release with this gem: “Letting Lower and Middle-Class Americans Keep More Of The “Crumbs” They Received Thanks To President Trump’s Tax Cuts.” I love it. Pelosi is going to hate it. Good times. Any time someone can get a dig in at Nancy Pelosi, I’m all for it. Just how out of touch do you have to be to see that even a few dollars makes a huge difference to working families?
Republicans have tried to weaponize Pelosi’s words against her since she characterized the tax overhaul bill this way: “In terms of the bonus that corporate America received versus the crumbs that they are giving workers to kind of put the schmooze on is so pathetic. It’s so pathetic.” I’d say this does that rather nicely. Citing a tally by Americans for Tax Reform, Fox News reported that at least 346 companies have given workers bonuses or raises or increased contributions to employees’ 401(k) since the tax overhaul bill was passed. Those companies include AT&T, which gave $1,000 bonuses to 200,000 employees; automaker Fiat Chrysler, which gave at least 60,000 workers bonuses worth up to $2,000; and moving company U-Haul, where more than 28,000 full and part-time employees received bonuses ranging from $500 to $1,200.
Rokita is currently running for the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly in Indiana. He is currently engaged in a tough primary fight against fellow Rep. Luke Messer. I would suggest you support Rokita, I know I am. He gets it, unlike Pelosi, who is an out of touch millionaire who in reality doesn’t give a crap about the working class. Chicks on the Right had the best quote: “Love the proposal. Love the title. I love it all. I bet Pelosi HATES it.” Right there with ya. $1,000 bonuses and more that we can keep out of our paychecks allows Americans to breathe easier and make ends meet. And we want leaders who support things like this. Rokita has a bright future… Nancy is a worn out war horse staggering towards exiting stage left. I hope she trips over those ‘bread crumbs’ on her way out.
