As you’ve no doubt heard by now, fear that the “Rocket Man” leader of North Korea – a child himself – had launched a deadly, possibly nuclear attack on the Hawaiin Islands wreaked havoc and widespread panic across the State.
Although the Ballistic Missile warning turned out to be bogus – a mistake by the Hawaiin government – it quickly spread through social media, email, television broadcasts and caused massive confusion and fear, as well as screaming and people literally running through the streets to take cover.

As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, the government of Hawaii scared the populace with a text message to cellphone users alerting them to an incoming ballistic missile. The alert was reportedly repeated on television broadcasts. It turned out to be be bogus.
Hawaii has been on edge this year over North Korea’s threats to nuke the United States that have been backed up by missile and nuclear bomb tests. So much so, that they were literally running for bunkers and lowering their children down man holes into the storm drains – WATCH:

Video from Hawaii shows young children being placed into storm drains after the false incoming ballistic missile alert was sent to residents via text messages:
So….. what happened?
Oops. Turns out somebody “pushed the wrong button”? wth?

Who’s mentally incompetent again?
It took nearly 40 minutes for residents of Hawaii to receive a second alert informing them that a ballistic missile was not incoming.

It took 40 minutes to send out a second alert informing residents that it was a false alarm.
So let me get this straight – it takes 40 minutes to send out an alert that it was a false alarm, while it only takes 15 minutes for a missile to get from North Korea to Hawaii?
I’m curious who the State of Hawaii will blame for this… and they will. And the press will follow – make no mistake.
WAIT – here it is already:

Commander David Benham, a spokesman for US Pacific Command confirmed in a statement that there is no threat: “USPACOM has detected no ballistic missile threat to Hawaii,” the statement read. “Earlier message was sent in error. State of Hawaii will send out a correction message as soon as possible.”
White House spokesperson Lindsay Walters referred all questions about the alert to the Department of Defense. A White House official told reporters later Saturday that the President was briefed on the emergency management exercise. “This was purely a state exercise,” the official said.
Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz also took to Twitter on Saturday in the wake of the false alarm. “There is no missile threat,” the Democratic senator tweeted. “It was a false alarm based on a human error. There is nothing more important to Hawaii than professionalizing and fool-proofing this process.”
“AGAIN FALSE ALARM,” he wrote in a second tweet. “What happened today is totally inexcusable. The whole state was terrified. There needs to be tough and quick accountability and a fixed process.”
Defense Secretary James Mattis was briefed on the situation, a defense official told CNN. The Federal Communications Commission is also investigating the incident, FCC spokesman Brian Hart tweeted.
The US military maintains a complex and integrated network of sensors and detection capabilities in the Pacific to track ballistic missile activity, a network that has been — of necessity — improved in recent years, according to CNN military analyst John Kirby.
Tracking, verification and analysis would be provided to civil authorities by US Strategic and Pacific Commands, Kirby said. Hawaii’s emergency management system does not have this capability on its own and would rely on the military’s verification and analysis of the threat..
…. I don’t know if you know this – but the truth is, real-world missile launches are detected immediately by satellites that discern the infrared signature right off the launching pad. That’s why we allow Rocket Man of North Korea to launch his missiles in the first place. It allows our military to learn a lot about them in case they shoot out the real deal.
