Trump Took The Field And The Audience ROARED During One Special Moment

Trump attended the college football national championship last night at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was a sight to behold. Tens of thousands cheered President Trump as he took the field with the Georgia ROTC before the Alabama Crimson Tide – Georgia Bulldogs face off. It gave me chills as Trump came out with these young military people and waved at the crowd. He strolled tall and proud to the middle of the field to take part in the National Anthem before the much-anticipated game played in Atlanta. Both school bands played and Trump put his hand on his heart as the soldiers saluted. It made me proud just watching it.

There was one moment though when the crowd absolutely roared their approval as the Zac Brown Band sang the National Anthem. Right in the middle of the anthem, the camera cut to the screens and you could see a live shot of a military base. Inside the base, the soldiers were standing at attention for the anthem. Thousands thunderously applauded and shouted their love for our military and President. It seriously brought a tear to my eye. The crowd literally went wild. In the video below at the 3:15 mark, you can see it. It will move you.

The halftime performance featured Grammy-award winning artist Kendrick Lamar, who is not a huge Trump fan to say the least. Considered one of President Obama’s favorite artists, Lamar has been known to include politically charged lyrics in some of his Grammy award-winning music. In his song “The Heart Part 4” released last year, the rapper calls Trump a “chump” and refers to Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump’s motorcade passed both supporters and protesters on the way in. A few dozen protesters gathered near the stadium before the game. And what Trump appearance would be complete without the racists and communists showing up. Atlanta’s chapter of the NAACP encouraged attendees to bring white towels to twirl in the air during the game to capture Trump’s attention. “Trump supporters mockingly call the opposition snowflakes, but when we come together we create a mighty storm,” the NAACP Atlanta wrote in a Facebook post Sunday. The organization said Trump “has made a terrible decision and is disrupting [the game] with his presence.” Additionally, the group Refuse Fascism held a demonstration outside of the stadium Monday at the CNN Center. Attendees took a knee against Trump.

Hours earlier, in a Nashville speech, Trump again criticized athletes who kneel during the anthem to protest police brutality and racism. “There’s plenty of space for people to express their views and to protest, but we love our flag and we love our anthem and we want to keep it that way,” Trump told people at an annual gathering at the American Farm Bureau. The media of course is full of criticism for Trump this morning, they always are. They support those that kneel in protest. The overwhelming majority of Americans do not.

Trump faced cheers and jeers from the packed stadium with 71,000+ attendees. In a first for his presidency, President Trump attended the NCAA championship football game Monday evening. He left at halftime, well before the Crimson Tide won in overtime in a dramatic finish, 26-23. Duty calls. The college teams remained in their locker rooms during the anthem. Both teams were not on the field for the performance. The NCAA does not require athletes to be out on the field for the National Anthem during the regular season. Players are required to take the field for the anthem for NCAA-sanctioned championship and playoff events, but the bowl games and the College Football Playoff do not fall under that rule. The President watched the game from a private box overlooking the Alabama sideline flanked by ROTC students.

This is President Trump’s second college football game since entering politics, but it’s the first team sports event he’s viewed in person since taking office. He previously attended the annual Army/Navy football game when he was President-elect. He supported both teams and praised them for their “spirit” during a surprise appearance in the announcer’s booth for CBS Sports.

President Trump walked off Air Force One just after midnight and climbed into a black SUV headed back to the White House. Trump’s appearance at the game was iconic and patriotic. It’s just the balm a healing America needs right now.
