Tapper Cuts Off Interview With Trump Adviser Stephen Miller After Shouting Match

CNN’s Jake Tapper and White House adviser Stephen Miller really got into it during a tense exchange over Michael Wolff’s explosive new book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.” In the end, Tapper cut Miller off during a discussion of President Trump’s mental status. That is just inexcusably rude and unprofessional. CNN’s bias is clear here and so is Tapper’s. I used to respect the guy, but he’s lost me. Stephen Miller may not be a great guy in my estimation, but he didn’t deserve that kind of treatment. It’s like Tapper expected him to turn on Trump the way Bannon did. Not going to happen.

This piece of crap book is nothing more than a political hit job ginned up by Wolff and Bannon. Steve is now apologizing, but it’s way too late for that. He brought a Democratic operative into the White House and it is widely known that Bannon was the source of most of the leaks. Wolff himself has admitted that the book is not credible. It is simply intended to bring Trump down.

Tapper is insistent in trying to get Stephen to say something about Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with that Russian attorney. He wanted him to say that Trump himself was at that meeting. Miller didn’t take the bait. Stephen was there to defend his boss period and to call out CNN for fake and biased reporting. No one who is serious thinks that a man who is a billionaire and a successful businessman is mentally unstable. No one in their right mind thinks a man who ran a successful campaign against the best the GOP had to offer and who has by all accounts done a lot to move the conservative agenda forward, is soft in the head either.

Miller is furious over this book, just as Trump is. I can’t say I blame them in the least on that. It’s slanderous propaganda. Stephen also had choice words for Steve Bannon’s deplorable actions and attitude. He said that Bannon’s critical comments about the administration in Wolff’s book were “grotesque.” “The book is best understood as a work of very poorly written fiction,” Miller said, going on to call Wolff a “garbage author.” It’s impossible to argue with that sentiment, but Jake Tapper did anyway.

Wolff’s book refers to President Trump as a petulant child and vindictive. That’s not true either, but the left is trying to paint him as such. I might not go so far as to label Trump as a ‘political genius’, but I would certainly say he’s smarter than most out there and certainly smarter than the media.

Stephen tore into Jake Tapper over CNN specifically. He said it gave the network great “joy to stick the knife in.” Oh, I’m sure it does. As Miller was yet again saying that Trump is a genius and a successful businessman, Tapper chirped, “I’m sure he’s watching and he’s happy you said that.” That’s when all hell started to break loose. “You can be as condescending as you want. It’s part of your MO,” Miller said. Touche. I can’t say I blame Miller in slapping Tapper like that.

Tapper claimed to be perplexed as to why Stephen was attacking CNN so savagely. Oh, come on… that’s just laughable. They both kept interrupting each other to get in a word and started shouting at one another. Miller stated that CNN did “24 hours of negative anti-Trump hysterical coverage” that led to false reporting. “I think the viewers right now can ascertain who is being hysterical,” Tapper stated. At one point, Tapper told Miller to “settle down.” Those are fighting words… did Tapper really think he could treat Miller like a wayward child and get away with it?

Tapper tried to shift the conversation back to Bannon and Trump’s recent claim that his role in the campaign and administration had been overstated. He pointed to his influence on various key issues like immigration, but Miller was not buying it and made it clear he wouldn’t stand for that kind of smearing tactic.

Tapper asked Stephen about Trump’s recent tweets calling himself a “very stable genius.” Miller again shredded CNN and the “toxic environment” it had created with its hostile coverage. Tapper lost all patience at that point as Miller blasted CNN as “extremely fake news” again. “Stephen, I get it. There’s one viewer that you care about right now, and you’re being obsequious … in order to please him,” Tapper said. “I think I’ve wasted enough of my viewers’ time.” At that point, Tapper cut Miller off and went to another segment after the break.

President Trump got the last word in via Twitter. In Trump’s opinion, Miller destroyed Tapper. “Watch the hatred and unfairness of this CNN flunky!” he wrote. Talk about the final word. That was brutal and accurate. Nice.
