‘California Better Hold On Tight!’ – ICE Director Torches ‘Sanctuary State’ Law

ICE is putting California on notice. Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan said California “better hold on tight” after its liberal Democratic governor, Moonbeam Jerry Brown, allowed a sanctuary state law to take effect this week. Neil Cavuto reported that Gov. Jerry Brown claimed the law will protect illegal immigrants living quietly in the shadows of society from law enforcement intent on “yanking them out of there.” “I think it’s terrible,” Homan said, adding that Brown’s actions put politics in front of public safety. And it does so blatantly. This is a giant middle finger to the rule of law, police and President Trump.

Homan pointed out that the rank-and-file police officers are opposed to the new measures and that Brown’s administration didn’t consult them before approving the law. Of course he didn’t. He’s a freaking Marxist, who plays at being a progressive tyrant. “If [Brown] thinks he is protecting the community, he’s doing quite the opposite,” Homan said. “[Brown] is knowingly putting law enforcement at risk. “There’s no sanctuary from law enforcement,” he said. “California better hold on tight – they’re about to see a lot more deportation officers. If politicians don’t protect their communities then ICE will.” Yes! Good for ICE.

Homan stated that illegal alien smuggling organizations will use the California law as a “selling point” and that Brown “bit off a lot more than he can chew.” That’s because he’s a moron. Just sayin’. California has gone full commie. They’ve legalized illegal immigrants, pot and every kind of gender insanity you can think of. They openly persecute conservatives, Christians and police. This embrace of illegal aliens will make their rush towards bankruptcy accelerate even faster. It will massively up crime and it will sadly get officers killed.

Homan said that Brown and other sanctuary-jurisdiction leaders may have violated 8 U.S. Code § 1324 – relating to “harboring certain aliens.” I’m sure they have, but will anyone do anything about it? Paging Jeff Sessions. He said he hopes the Justice Department will look into whether officials can be criminally charged under the statute. According to text of the federal law cited by Homan, any person “knowing… the fact that an alien has come to… the United States in violation of the law, conceals, harbors or shields from detection… such [an] alien in any place” can face fines and/or up to several years in prison.

If I were California, I’d get ready for a hell of a wild ride in 2018. It’s barreling towards them like a runaway Amtrak train. “We gotta take [sanctuary cities] to court, and we gotta start charging some of these politicians with crimes,” Homan said, explaining he believed politicians who pushed sanctuary city legislation should be held “personally accountable” for their actions. He’s speaking to you specifically, Governor Brown.

Homan, who has been the acting director of the department since January and was announced as Trump’s pick to permanently lead the department in December, has maintained a hard line on immigration, previously talking tough on undocumented immigrants when testifying before Congress in June. “If you choose to enter this country illegally, which is a crime, you should be concerned. You violated a law in this country, and I’ll tell you, you can’t have it both ways,” Homan said. “You can’t be part of this country and not respect its laws.” Later in June, Homan said, “Sanctuary jurisdictions pose a threat to the American public by refusing to work with ICE and allowing egregious criminal offenders back into the community to put the lives of the public at risk.” I like this guy.

The new California law known as the Sanctuary State Law took effect on Jan. 1. It restricts cooperation between local police and federal immigration agents. The law forbids state and local law enforcement from using resources or staff to help federal agents deport immigrants, both authorized and unauthorized. The immediate effects on local law enforcement agencies depend on how closely they cooperate with immigration officials now. “Our local control is limited,” said Ray Grangoff, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. “ICE is going to be the one that has sole responsibility for identifying the individuals.” Grangoff said ICE may still ask for notification once someone is released. The county may provide that notice, so long as the individual involved has been convicted of a serious or violent crime as outlined in the state law.

Jeff Sessions should cut off all funding to the state immediately. I know that many officers in the state oppose the sanctuary law, but we cannot allow California to bypass the rule of law here. Time to bring the lid down on California.
