Just wow. Cregg Jerri, who is 58, is a stone cold hero. Ryan Michael Florez, 30, decided he wanted to rob a Starbucks in Fresno, California. So, he put on a Transformers Optimus Prime mask (I know, nerdy lame) and he took fake gun and a cheap Chinese knife to threaten the barista with. As the dunce demanded money, he put the knife and fake gun in one hand. Jerri picked up a chair, came from behind and beat him over the head with it. Then he took his fists and beat the ever loving crap out of the guy. It was glorious.
The whole event was caught on video. Not bad for a director of Frito-Lay. Not too bad at all. He took down a guy half his age. After the beat down, Florez fled the scene and when the police found him, he claimed to be a victim of the robbery. But he was caught on surveillance and the police quickly ascertained it was him. Both Jerri and Florez were stabbed in the fight. Both will be fine, but Florez is going to jail where he belongs.

Hero Cregg Jerri, 58, is seen with his daughters in this family photo. Jerri thwarted an attempted armed robbery at a Fresno, California Starbucks.
From the Daily Mail:
Hero Cregg Jerri, 58, and suspect Ryan Michael Florez, 30, were both stabbed in the struggle for the suspect’s knife during a stickup at a Starbucks in Fresno, California on Thursday.
Police said that Florez fled the scene and later claimed to be a victim of the robbery, but was identified as the robber with the help of surveillance video, according to the Fresno Bee.
He was armed with a large knife and replica handgun, according to police.
The video shows the suspect wearing a blue mask from the Transformers franchise approaching the Starbucks counter wielding a realistic -looking handgun.
He holds out a bag to the young woman working the register and then pulls out a large knife, waving it menacingly at her.
In the background, another Starbucks worker is cleaning table tops and smiles as Jerri picks up a chair and charges at the suspect.
Jerri, a 58-year-old sales director for Frito-Lay, is a regular at the Starbucks and knows the baristas.
The hero customer beats the suspect over the head with the chair and then the two wrestle over the knife.
Florez stabbed Jerri in the neck. That’s when Jerri got control of the knife and stabbed Florez several times. Jerri had to have stitches.
The police say that Florez got into a truck and drove away from the scene, but dumped the vehicle and was later found bleeding on the side of the road. The thug had no previous criminal record.
Fresno police Chief Jerry Dyer is seen briefing the media on the attempted Starbucks robbery.
The suspect remains in the hospital and has yet to be booked, but he will be charged with attempted armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. He was trying to kill Jerri, so I hope they throw the book at him. It was definitely a wild fight and it’s nice that the good guy won this one… and survived. Chief Jerry Dyer called Jerri a “courageous hero,” who put his own life at risk to thwart the crime. A hero he is… next time though, use a heavier chair.
