In Which I Email My Exasperations to David Frum

In quoting the Left Wing Blogosphere on Gov. Palin, I don't believe you can in any way claim that you hope it isn't true. You are hoping more and more desperation that it is. You want Sarah Palin to fail. You want her to crash and burn and you want this year's GOP ticket to crash and burn.

Now I grant you, this is a tough viewpoint to articulate and defend as a blogger on NRO. Therefore, we are indulged to weasel qualifiers such as "I sure hope this isn't true…"

I'm increasingly convinced that many there on NRO wish John McCain had picked Lincoln Chafee or Arlen Specter instead. They might deviate somewhat from the Russell Kirk Gold Standard, but at least they've been properly vetted. Properly vetted being elitist code-speak for having been to the correct colleges and universities and having scratched the right backs, rather than kicked the wrong arses.

Please look past credentialism. If the 1980 GOP nomination had depended on credentialism, I somehow doubt Eureka College would ever have made the grade. V/R SDH
