With the pick of Joe Biden the Obama campaign has managed to put Delaware into play and all of its Electoral Votes. Biden all but guarantees that Obama will win that state.
Wow! I am breathless with the boldness of this move.
It will certainly require the McCain campaign to go back and rethink its nominee -- someone who could possibly counteract the Joementum that this pick will generate.
I wonder of Bob Keeshan is still alive?

With the addition of Sen Joe Biden to the ticket, the campaign is looking for a new slogan that encompasses the theme of the whole ticket. These are slogans presently being considered.

Thanks for the links. I read both Chuck Hagel and Dick Lugar as being different in what each statement emphasized. Hagel's statement went as though it is a foregone conclusion that Obama/Biden have already won the election. Lugar's statement was more like the call John McCain made to Joe Biden congratulating him on being selected as the presumptive VP of the Democratic Party.
Reading between the lines I suspect that Dick Lugar is relieved that Bayh was not chosen. Had Bayh been chosen it would have been the second time in Dick Lugar's career he was up-staged by the junior US Senator from Indiana. Remember Dan Quayle in 1988? I can't say with absolute certainty, but I've heard the rumors, Dick Lugar is very bitter for never being asked to be anyone's VP.

So, it's Joe "Plugs" Biden - a man who's ability to pontificate for hours on end about almost nothing is exceeded only by his capacity for deluding himself into believing he's the smartest guy in whatever room he walks into. The analysis from the MSM is that this pick reveals The Chosen One "lacks confidence" - which, for a change, is probably spot on.
Biden doesn't bring anything to the table electorally (Deleware and Maryland aren't in play - beyond that the reaction is likely as not to be "Joe Who?" among non-Imus listeners), has no small amount of ill-deserved cred on Foreign Policy (where The One is a zero) and is considered, probably fairly, moderate (certainly by the standards of today's Democrats). Probably just about the best pick Camp Messiah could have come up with, but I can't see how it helps them at all.
Too bad - for them.
What Biden does bring, however, is someone who's not afraid to go after the other team with gusto (something that Bayh was evidently not willing to do - which I'm guessing is a large part of why, together with his bland white-bread Indiana personality, he's not The Chosen One's choice).
