First, it's mid-April. Wake me when we're in the MLB playoff season and I'll start to care what national polls and focus groups are saying.

Second, recall that there's some AP-Yahoo! focus-silliness out there saying that "unhappy Republicans are returning to McCain", or somesuch - the same thing will happen to the Demos as E-Day draws nigh. Surely.

Lastly, I know this is going to be held-up by a certain faction of McCainiacs regarding the "wisdom" of nominating Senator Maverick this cycle. Let me pre-emptively say BullShiite to that. Given the nasty blood-feud that has developed between St. Barack and The Witch over the last month-or-two I don't think it's unreasonable at all to suggest that had we nominated anyone more sensible and/or sane than, say, Tom Tancredo (which would eliminate RonPaulTM, of course) we would be seeing much the same effect. It may be perhaps a little more pronounced because we've nominated McPain, and it may well last all the way through Election Day - but at what cost?

Unfortunately we won't know that until after President Maverick is sworn-in.
