when I was still managing at Walgreens. She always paid the majority of her bill in coins. She even used those pointless dollar coins. We couldn’t do anything with them because our bank wouldn’t take them as a deposit (more precisely the armored service wouldn’t pick them up) and customers wouldn’t take them as change because they didn’t think they were real.

I long for an all plastic society. Fewer headaches and much less counting.

you better sit up straight.

Trustees at the Harrold Independent School District approved a district policy change last October so employees can carry concealed firearms to deter and protect against school shootings, provided the gun-toting teachers follow certain requirements.

These stories seem to always come out of Texas. You really do have it good down there EPU.

Plug-In Hybrid From G.M. Is Nearly Ready for Testing

Quote:
General Motors said Thursday that it had “essentially finished” designing its first plug-in hybrid car, the Chevrolet Volt, and would have production-ready prototypes within 10 days.

DocJ's picture

I mean, I'm sure it's going to be a neat car - and GM sure as heck is betting the farm this car can get them back in the game and (hopefully) in the (long) road to positive revenue streams...

... but I personally think the entire "plug-in hybrid" concept is wildly oversold. I don't believe there is simply any way it can live up to the hype. And just wait until peoples' electric bills start showing up! (Hey, it's not like all that "plugging in" comes free, you know...)

Definitely this tactic limited the opponents range of options for turning the tables.

I have taken almost no interest in watching the Olympics this year.

The first day I caught a riveting game of Badminton between an Italian woman and a Spanish woman, followed by Russia v S Korea in women's Team Handball. After that, for some reason, I was unable to muster much enthusiasm for the NBC coverage of the Games.

As for Phinney, he is only 18, in his first year of international cycling and his first year on the track. He did amazingly well. He has a wonderfully bright future.

Applying the Democratic oil plan to everyday life

Blood shortage? We cannot donate our way out of this problem.

Accident victims will just have to cut back on their use of blood. They have to break their addiction to blood.

People starving in Africa? We cannot feed our way out of this problem. They’ll just have to cut back on their use of food. They’ll have to break their addiction to food.

Baby crying at 3 a.m.? We cannot nurse our way out of this problem. He’ll just have to cut back on his use of milk. He’ll have to break his addiction to milk.

Asthmatics short of breath? We cannot breathe our way out of this problem. They’ll just have to cut back on their use of air. They’ll have to break their addiction to air.

We have a seven medal lead over the ChiComs. Let’s see if the IOC does the right thing and strips China of the women’s team gymnastics gold and gives it to the U.S.

I have a suspicion they won’t (at least not until post-Games).

...but nothing will be done!

the other day while the Chinese were playing in-door volleyball one the line judges was Chinese??? WTF!

you never see American judges -- at all???

Almost every score for the US women gymnasts was underscored! How do you do a perfect vault with a small step on the landing and get score from a judge that's 1.5 or so under your starting value???

I call BS!!! And I'm not the only one!
