Take Taxpayers Off Hook for Rot at Fannie, Freddie

If elected, I’ll continue my crusade for the right reform of the institutions: making them go away. I will get real regulation that limits their ability to borrow, shrinks their size until they are no longer a threat to our economy, and privatizes and eliminates their links to the government.

Technology, Not Globalization, Feeds Income Inequality

The authors find that inequality has increased in most countries and regions over the past two decades. They separate the influences of trade and financial globalization, saying the two forces have opposite influences on inequality. “Trade liberalization and export growth are found to be associated with lower income inequality, while increased financial openness is associated with higher inequality,” they write.

However, technological progress is seen to have a separately identifiable effect on inequality, and that effect is bigger than trade and financial globalization combined. The two aspects of globalization effectively cancel each other out, the authors argue, leaving technology as the main culprit in the income gap.

But that's the amount of money Ford Motor Company hemorrhaged last quarter.

Ford is currently trading in the range of $5.40 - as recently as the late 90's it was trading in the mid-$30 range.

Now, I'm a certified moron when it comes to all things money (a quick glance at my checkbook is all the proof you would need of that) - but I'm compelled to think this is still bad news. Eh?

1 - Obama is providing the substantive details of his inevitable leftist demise with surge success triangulations, plane won't wear the flag, overreach acting like he's already President abroad; failing in answering surprisingly tough questions from the sychophantic msm panting like loyal mutts behind him; shunning the military servicemen unless they are playing basketball with him; and the Hitler like venue and crowd celebrating America bashing apologies and citizen of the worldness.

2 - After last night's 3rd hamstring pull this season by Chipper Jones (the leading hitter in MLB at .369), Atlanta will most likely trade Texiera and figuratively throw in the towel, BUT DON'T WRITE THEM OFF JUST YET.

It could still be a Braves-Tigers World Series.

3 - Gamecock columns in the works for release this week:

a) Richard Land's Rx for healing our land (I covered the public face for Southern Baptists, and the best Evangelical face in America, at his Charlotte appearance Monday Night. A frequent guest of the late Tim Russert on MTP, he is the author of "The Divided States of America."

b) A late but significant obit for Jesse helms emphasizing his positive actions for race relations from the 60s thru the date of his death.

c) The false premises behind David Brooks (Sams Club Repubs column and anti-Rush columns), David Frum (Comeback book) and Douthat et al (Grand New Party book) Rx's for how the GOP ceases the filing of Minority Reports, i.e.

DeVine Gamecock's Rx

d) CockStradamus reviews his correct prognostication last Winter that Dobson would eventually back McCain.
