Interestingly enough after my post the other day showing how McCaskill's actions in Washington are completely contrary to what she campaigned on, the Springfield News-Leader and Kansas Cit Star Blog ran a couple of pieces which prove my pont; but they fail to connect the dots.
The Kansas City Star blog entry pointed out and FEC report which showed McCaskill took donations from 19 people she should not have in the waning days of the campaign. The money added up to in excess of twenty thousand dollars. The article went on to note that should could send in documentation that could "clarify" the situation.
So much for being a rock solid "auditor" eh? More like a decent auditor when the political motivation is there. Mean while turn a blind eye to matters which affect her.
The News-Leader article is far more telling, though, in that it discusses many of those "evil lobbyist" Claire talked about during the campaign are now donating and holding fundraising events for her. What is her response?
"Yes, I'm for public financing ... I hate the process of raising money," she told reporters. "I did when I was running, I do now. I hate it. I got some bills to pay, so I better raise some money so I can pay the bills."
I bet. This comes after she hired a lobbyist as her Chief of Staff, voted against ethics reforms which would stop related items and requsted permission from the FEC to raise money without any limits.
I applaud the News-Leader for writing about the fundraisers, however they fail to connect the dots and inform the voters about her recent votes and actions. This is very important to telling the reader why her actions are important which is vital to holding her into account, especially in light of how she conducted her self in the campaign.
