Seriously. Leave it to the Globe-Democrat - kid sister of Pinch's crumbling media, erm, fiefdom - to plumb depths not yet plumbed in their "coverage" of the election.

Let's just start with the title...

Quote:
Unfit to stand so close to presidency

Ironic, coming from a apostlesupporter of St. Barack of the Community Organizers, eh?

Quote:
TODAY, on the anniversary of the horror of Sept. 11, 2001, we should recall what happens when an unqualified candidate captures the presidency.

Again, from an Obama supporter? Oh please, let us do recall what happens in such sad circumstances.

Quote:
An incurious western governor, George W. Bush, arrived in Washington unprepared for the job. And it showed every day of his presidency.

Uh, sure. Wouldn't be a Boston Globe-Democrat piece unless there was at least one worn-out MoveOn Talking Point ("incurious") in the lead graph. As for the rest - well, opinions being like a$$-holes I'll leave Mr. Payne's smelly turds alone to rot in the sun.

Let me skip a bit, not for lack of fisking material mind you - but just to save some bandwidth...

Quote:
Sarah Palin is Clarence Thomas, completely unqualified but cynically chosen for being a member of a demographic group that usually votes Democratic. No wonder so many women are insulted by the choice.

Again, this is an Obama supporter saying these things - I suppose with a straight, if sneering, face. Liberals - irony challenged to the point of hilarity.

Oh, and as to "No wonder so many women are insulted by the choice"? Oh yeah, and their showing their level of outrage by, erm, sprinting to the McCain-Palin ticket as fast as they can.

So what is it, Mr. Payne? Are you really that stupid or merely sloppy?

I suppose I'll let him answer that question himself...

Quote:
Will Hillary voters buy Palin's extreme antiabortion stance that allows no exceptions, not even for incest or rape; her belief in "market- and business-driven healthcare"; her support for teaching creationism in public schools; her rejection of global warming as man-made?

Let me just point y'all here for a wonderful debunking of this chunk (and the next 3-4 graphs) of Mr. Payne's almost entirely fact-free piece.

Quote:
Troopergate, the iceberg cometh. Dead ahead, Palin is facing a report from a special prosecutor chosen unanimously by the Alaska Legislature.

Hey genius? You might want to read this gem from our good buddy Art. Until then - I suppose you could "KEEP! HOPE!! ... ALIVE!!!" that TrooperGageTM will actually, you know, come to anything. Or not. I really couldn't care less.

Oh, let's just skip to the finale...

Quote:
(Palin)'s a hard-right, small-town operator who tapped into the corrupt Ted Stevens money pipeline in Washington. She knows how to use Alaska's gun-toting cowboy image to her advantage. She's got a Taliban-like tolerance for beliefs unlike her own.

1) Talking point debunked at Graham's piece
2) It's not an image, sweet-cakes - and were I you I'd be watching my back if you hear a "ka-click", if you know what I mean. We all know that when Sarah Palin shoots something it, well, stays shot
3) Given this fact-free screed appearing in an also-ran of a newspaper I would be somewhat careful about tossing around phrases like "Taliban-like tolerance for beliefs unlike her own" - but then we're up against the "irony challenged" issue again, aren't we.

Quote:
To the extent he thought about it at all, McCain (an ex-POW) picked her to fix his problems with GOP evangelicals and juice the ticket. That's a lousy reason to let someone so completely unfit stand so close to the presidency.

Once again - from an Obama supporter.

Do these people even read what it is they write?

Oh, here's the best part...

Quote:
Dan Payne is a Boston-area media consultant who has worked for Democratic candidates around the country. He does political analysis for WBUR radio.

So this three-time loser is a Democrat "media consultant" - meaning that he lies about Republican pols for a living - who does "political analysis" for the local - drumroll please - public radio station.

In other words, you guessed it, your tax dollars at work.

Well, he obviously can't do and probably can't teach, so I guess all that's left is to suck-off the public teat - and write screeds for the Boston Globe-Democrat, with their layers of fact checkers, of course.

I get aroused just thinking about how terrified of Sarahcuda are the libs.

At least, that's why I think I... erm... what are we talking about?

It could be that I live in a state full of crazy people. But, frankly, I find Sarah Palin a completely NORMAL woman in a powerful position. She is just like dozens of women I've worked for or with and had work for me over the last couple of decades; women who were Rs, Ds, apolitical, Christians, and Wiccans. They balance husbands, and kids, and jobs, and houses, and hunting and fishing, and all that STUFF that real people do who don't take taxis or subways to work and eat in restaurants every meal.

What is so disconcerting to "those people" is that they don't know any real Americans who have real jobs and real lives and who don't have nannies and drivers. Sarah Palin, like most American women, is more alien than a little green man to the Coastal elites. They believe in little green men, they deny the existence of real Americans.

Those of you who know me know that I am no great fan of Sarah Palin, but I'd go hunting with her if she said she had a line on where we could get a moose and I wouldn't worry about her ACCIDENTALLY shooting me.

I agree she is completely normal. I like her. Unfortunately the office for which she is applying needs extraordinary people. McCain fits that description - Obama in time but she does not.

You have an overinflated understanding of what VP job is and clearly have no idea what your talking about!

You either dislike her because she is a women, are a half ass troll, or just completely uniformed -- Maybe all three but if all you plan to do one this site is Passive aggressively bash Sarah Palin you can move along...

Thanks

I'm sorry steven if you have a hard time with opinions different than your own.

It is entirely possible to support the Republican party, John McCain, and still believe that she is not a good fit for the job.

That's weak! and you know it... I don't have a hard time with with other opinions you just haven't brought anything of value to the table and your arguments for non-support of Palin, so far, sound like moby nonsense!

So please, I'll ask you again -- if all you plan to do one this site is Passive Aggressively bash Sarah Palin you can move along... If you have legitimate reasons for not supporting Palin please bring it. as long as there not lefty talking points I'm sure some here will engage.

btw - what's the point in not supporting Palin? She's the pick, What do you hope to gain?

Yes you are right - weak reply. I came to the site via Drudge while on break and wasn't expecting such virulent replies.

I appreciate that you at least will have a conversation. Cheers.

... please, by all means, let us all know what makes you think Barack "The Community Organizer" Obama will be "extraordinary" in time.

I can't wait to see that one.

I don't support Barack though I believe in time he may well be a great leader.

Sarah looks Charlie Gibson right in the eye and doesn't hem, haw, backing and hauling with an army of words searching for a thought---like OBAMA!!! Just like Margaret. Maggie simply blew away the lightweights both in her party and in the loathsome TUC & Labour termitaries. Thatcher was Reagan in women's clothing, but tough & subtle at the same time.

Last time a outdoors-loving governor for only two years with a big family & no foreign experience was put on the ticket was 1900---a fellow named Teddy Roosevelt. He could field dress a moose too.

"Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope." - MT

There is little resemblance between Palin & Margaret Thatcher other than they are both female.

So far you have expressed thoughts on only one candidate, Gov Palin. Just for $#its and giggles, now is your opportunity to expand beyond that.

With your next post, if you were not merely a hit and run driver, give us a clear picture of Sen Barack Obama -- his positions on issues and what they mean to this country.

And, for the record, it is not that we have trouble around here with differing opinions -- the trouble we have is with Talking-Point-o-Matic trolls who leave little brown stains on the carpeting.

I seem to remember the knock on President Reagan was that he was an intellectual lightweight who just read the words that others put in front of him -- just an actor. I seem to remember that the talking points against President Bush are that he is an intellectual lightweight that cannot speak the English language, but just reads the words that others tell him to say. Neither turned out to be true.

Have at it...

Thanks for the welcome David. I can tell by the way you addressed my comment that you have much to offer and I look forward to reading more of your wisdom in the future.

... a back-benching lightweight when she came on the scene as a front-bench pol in reward for little more than her loyalty to Edward Heath. And while true that Thatcher was a front-bencher for nearly a decade before rising to opposition leader and then, 4-years later, PM I'm sure you recognize there is more than a little bit of difference between an MP and a Governor. Right, sparky?

None of which is to say that we're talking about political career tracks here. Thatcher was deridingly called "The Grocer's Daughter" during her early career - and was mocked openly by the elites for her, ahem, decidedly middle-class sensibilities.

Sound familiar, bucko?
