The HinzSight Report has been chronicling the mayors recent legal difficulties in articles entitled Woes Continue for Detroit Mayor and Obama Superdelegate Denied Travel To Denver.
The July 21 incident now receiving wide range reporting in the Detroit Media, occurred two days before the mayor's Windsor business trip, for which he did not receive court approval, resulting in the revoking of his bond, and a night's stay in the Wayne County Jail. James Parkman III, one of the 17 attorneys retained by the mayor had this to say:
"He was only asked where are you going and when are you coming back. There was no requirement to explain how are you getting there, how are you getting back," Parkman said. "He may have gone through Niagara Falls on the way back. I believe the most direct route back to Detroit is driving through Canada."
Parkman did not address the question of what the mayor was doing at a Canadian waterpark, or why the mayor would take his two sons with him on a business trip.
"He was only asked where are you going and when are you coming back. There was no requirement to explain how are you getting there, how are you getting back," Parkman said. "He may have gone through Niagara Falls on the way back. I believe the most direct route back to Detroit is driving through Canada."
Friday morning, District Court Thomas Jackson changed the provisions of the mayor's bond, to include an electronic tether, and a prohibition against all out-of-state travel.
In addition, the office of State Attorney General Mike Cox announced on Saturday that the mayor might have violated the terms of his bond in another case adjudicated Friday, stemming from a pushing incident between the mayor and a police officer. Under the terms of his release, the mayor is not to have any contact with any of the witnesses to that incident.
Saturday morning, the mayor was seen at the home of his mother, in the company of his sister and members of his personal protection team. His sister, and one of those team members are both considered witnesses to the shoving incident.
...a spokesman for Cox, said new bond conditions forbade Kilpatrick from having contact with any witnesses to his alleged crime, all of whom were listed on investigative reports released on Friday. Hills did not indicate whether lawyers for the state would ask to have the mayor's bond modified.
more, I am sure, will come on Monday...
