You did a GREAT job with this thing!

The Presidential nominess of both parties.

But they won't, of course. And one would call you a nativist for even producing it - sadly, it's the Republican of whom I speak there.

Well done, Steve.

just say that no one other than the Asian's who owned it could have been legal.....and I also have to say they are SLAVE labor....Iit is 100 degrees here and I can well imagine just surviving to clean peoples cars in that heat must "piss" them off.....the biggest piece of crap about the experience was that the Asian owner was SELLING them drinks...yes selling them drinks from a refrigerator.....I could not believe my eyes because if I owned the joint my workers would be getting drinks for FREE.....I am normally angry that illegals are here illegally but today I am pissed of at the "explotation" of these human beings....and for that President Bush and the congress of the US should be ashamed....because these are not jobs that Americans won't do these are jobs that Americans won't take low pay for.....you just know they are lucky to be getting $5 an hr and tips......and these "business" owners are getting away with SLAVERY!!!!!

The things that need to be said and done to address the crisis of illegal immigration aren't being done. It's about time people woke up to reality and maybe this will help them.

I like Neil Diamond (other people have already castigated me for liking Barry Manilow, whose contemporaneous songs still provide the "singing in the shower" material for my early mornings). But more than that, more than just Barry Manilow or Neal Diamond, the fact is that our border enforecement isn't even as good as CANADA'S. We don't need to import poverty into this country.

I am truly loving this video -- I keep playing it over and over.

Neil and I and "Crackling Rosie" had a falling out when I was in HS and was at a camp for a week with a Jukebox with only 4 songs on it. It took me a long time to listen to Neil without cringing....

One of the things that should offend anyone about the immigration debate is that the discussion is so starkly drawn that nobody can make good choices without sounding like an idiot or worse.

It is obviously in America's best interest to bring people into this country who want to assimilate, who want to become a part of America, and who want to work. It's another thing entirely to want to allow anyone across the border because we've decided we can't enforce our own sovereignty. Somehow we cannot as a nation find any way to solve that problem yet, but it has to be solved.

It's perfectly clear to me that we can't accept all of the immigrants who *wish* to come to America, and we also can't afford to exclude them all. It's not a matter of racism or anything like it: it's a matter of having the ability to maintain our soverignty by choosing who we allow to come here. It's really all about the ability to exert our soverignty by limiting the number of people who come across the border.

We haven't been able to find the political will to do that. It's a tremendous failure.

One of the interesting things that happened recently was Ford's decision to build the new Festiva in Mexico. Unions in this country have been badmouthing the deal for months, supposedly because it is going to hurt American workers. But you cannot have it both ways:

If Mexicans are going to come across the border and our immigration enforcement is lax, they're going to take American jobs. If American companies are going to build cars in Mexico, it's going to anger the Unions here at home, but I really don't see what they think the alternative is?

AEKowalski's picture

The alternative is protecting American jobs by saying that American companies on American soil won't hire any Mexicans.

Well, that's racist. So where do Unions go with this argument?

Jaded's picture

does that go?

By unionizing illegal immigrants, they'll have a country of their own, *because* of the lax border enforcement.

I keep warning myself about Marx winning...

It doesn't seem to be having any inhibitory effect...

On our politicians...

Or our political process...

Jaded's picture

no matter the idiocy of the politicians is that far to the left......I am not a naive person yes I have conservative bias but I do not believe 100 percent that he will win.
