Let me start by saying I have no inside knowledge, prescient dreams or other insightful information gleaned from unnamed sources. Nonetheless, while watching unceasing Democrat Party verbal flailing in advance of General Petraeus’s testimony, it suddenly occurred to me their collective discomfort is possibly twofold. First, there is an obvious multiplex fear we will win in Iraq, our populace will realize the actions are keeping us safer and related policies, while not error free, are poised to yield long term dividends. In following, the next fear is not immediately so evident; unless of course your very existence is driven by politics.
Anyone familiar with the biography of General David Petraeus can immediately determine the man has an unmitigated history of being both truthful and honorable. The power of his accomplishments, education and academic achievements place him in a class far beyond the inauspicious group now hurling fallacious and defamatory banality. They are not coevals in any sense as their accomplishments are minute and any grandeur or self deserved accolade purely a figment of imagination and fantasy. In fact, the core of that group which includes Emanuel, Schumer, Durbin, Reid and Pelosi are so far from a reasonable comparison it is actually unfair. Nevertheless, General Petraeus has a duty to fulfill within our Democracy and he will do so, as has always been the case, to the best of his abilities. I will take that proven, honest and dutiful effort above any baseless, overtly partisan and misguided Democrat effort any day of the week. Who is serving the best interest of our country? Ask yourself that question when you watch this week’s testimony.
I would also ask you to consider one other point and thus the secondary fear as you watch Democrats question General Petraeus this week; Petraeus for Senate. Certainly, this will be refuted by aides and the General with profuse denials; and it should be, for now. However, knowing the area in and around his hometown and realizing Schumer needs to be replaced, I can not think of a better candidate, can you?
