Debate is certainly part of the American tradition. This great nation was founded on principals which embody the very essence of free and open discussion. In following, it is critical to our dialogue that positions, policies and eventually action are achieved on both a factual and intellectually supportable basis.
To say we entered into Iraq without comprehensive support of the aforementioned principles is a specious opine. This is primarily because it fails to account for strong beliefs which were independently held by a majority of our representatives. It also does not recognize an accompanying level of historical agreement by plurality of the civilized world.
It is therefore appropriate to say the wise decisions of yesterday require resolve both now and tomorrow to complete. In this context, the lack of foresight, meaningful articulation and wisdom coming from Democrats represents one of the most egregious breaches of faith with the American people in history.
