Every once in a while I listen to Macneil, Jurko and Harry on ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago. One of my favorite segments on the show is the Love Child: noting that people who don't seem to be related often bear striking resemblance to one another, the boys and their callers pick a celebrity or sports figure and decide what two other celebrities of the same gender that person resembles.
It seems to me that this idea applies to political beliefs, as well. Metaphorically speaking, I think Senator and Presidential hopeful Barack Obama is the political love child of former President Jimmy Carter and former President Bill Clinton. Barack has traits he may have inherited from his metaphorical love parents:
- He smiles a lot and
- Talks about God, because as
- A liberal Christian who
- Is curiously absent from church
- He cares (**sigh**)....
- Barack admits to past drug use but this man
- Is not a Muslim, and
- Obama is not that evil Republican
All that remains is picking up the DNA test results, and we could have a very interesting paternity, er, custody, er, ah, palimony suit.
Metaphorically speaking, that is.
