Barbra Streisand is interviewed in today's Politico, and John Cusack was hosted by the Washington Post back in June to publish his rantings and ravings.

I think it's nice to see Jon Voight speak out, frankly. Most of the time it's 50:1 in the other direction, and I bet the liberals and leftists in Hollywood don't feel cowed or threatened very much by Jon Voight's little column in the Washington Times. There are probably only eight or ten people in Los Angeles who have ever read the Washington Times.

Besides, celebrities don't listen to anyone except themselves when it comes to saying whatever they want, whenever they want, to anyone they want -- "legitimate" or not. The rules of etiquette didn't stop the Democrat Party from getting Steven Spielberg to stage manage John Kerry's "return to duty" speech at the 2004 DNC, and Michael Moore had a seat next to Jimmy Carter. And of course, Bruce Springsteen and David Hasselhoff helped end the Cold War (and Rocked the Vote!)

If you think you can convince the entertainment industry to put celebrities on a leash when it comes to politics, I'll be behind that agreement 110%. In the meantime, leave Jon Voight alone.

[BTW: Robert Redford is also a direct descendant of the Delano family, as in Franklin Delano Roosevelt, so even though he claims he doesn't watch his own movies very often, politics and celebrity have always been in his blood, as it were. Good luck getting him to quit, and until he does, the Jon Voights of the world need to be heard as well.]
