Saul Alinsky, the radical who wrote the book on destroying democracy, would be proud of the tactics being used by the Obama Campaign for President. Taking a page right out of Alinsky's "Rules For Radicals" today, a campaign supporter, Congressman John Lewis, D-GA, compared Sen John McCain to Segregationist George Wallace.
Said Lewis, a black congressman:
"George Wallace never threw a bomb. He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights. Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama."
The Obama Campaign immediately issued a statement:
The Obama campaign said the Illinois senator doesn't believe McCain or his policy criticism is at all comparable to Wallace and his segregationist policies.
This is classic Alinsky. Lewis plants the seed, which the MSM dutifully reports, that Sen McCain is sowing racial discord, much like old time segregationists who murdered little girls more than 40 years ago.
Then, the Obama reinforces that suggestion, by taking the high road, and claiming that they never considered Sen McCain a racist, like those old time segregationists. Plant the seeds, smear, then step back and pretend that someone else did the bomb throwing.
The Obama campaign then goes on the attack, claiming that the McCain campaign has been using inflammatory rhetoric. Their spokesman said, "John Lewis was right to condemn some of the hateful rhetoric that John McCain himself personally rebuked just last night, as well as the baseless and profoundly irresponsible charges from his own running mate that the Democratic nominee for president of the United States 'pals around with terrorists.'"
And therein is the goal -- to force the McCain campaign off message, and to avoid the obvious connections that Sen Obama has to shady and nefarious characters in Chicago.
Sen Obama was a student of the Alinsky method... and he learned his lessons well.
Be very frightened America, this is the most dangerous man who has ever come this close to the presidency in our nation's history.
