Sound The Horn, Let Slip The Hounds, The RINO Hunt Commences in Alaska

On the map, the Great State of Alaska lies far abroad from the rest of the nation. In our minds, it is often far abroad from our daily concerns. However, on a balmy, 60-degree Alaska day in August, America’s piece of The Arctic Circle could become ground zero for the Conservative campaign to reclaim the wayward GOP.

Sitting Congressman, Don Young, exemplifies the type of Republican who lost both The Senate, The House of Representatives in 2006. He rakes in the pork, wallows in the privilege, and provides the Pelosi-crats a bought-off and docile minority in the House. He is also a perfect lightning-rod for the polarization of liberal discontent. He costs the GOP seats in lands far afield from the Frozen North.

We, the GOP, truly believe in the goal of electing statesmen and Constitutionalists. In the person of Don Young, we continue to re-nominate and reelect Boss Hogg from The Dukes of Hazard. The man is a symbol of our organizations worst vices and degeneracy.

Yet, as hope often does, a cure for the pernicious Don Young arises from where we would least expect it. Young’s seat is now rated as vulnerable, and several potential GOP stars are in the running to take out our party’s biggest pile of corrupt, Beltway-snuggling, pile of steaming garbage. Kodiak, Alaska State Representative Gabrielle LeDoux picked up the gauntlet earlier this year.

I wrote a blog on LeDoux’s behalf, and I’m sure many others were glad to hear the state party had no intentions of rubber-stamping Don Young’s milking of the Capital Hill spoils system without a protest. However, Mrs. LeDoux seemed unable to generate buzz. Fortunately, she is not the only GOP option, as we seek to dethrone our own party’s Darth Maul.

Pat Toomey, headman at Club For Growth, could publish a RINO-hunter’s field manual. His challenge to Senator Arlen Specter sent a shiver down the spine of the GOP establishment hacks. Perhaps Justices Roberts and Alito owe their USSC seats to the fear of conservatives that his efforts instilled in Arlen Specter.

In today’s Wall Street Journal, Toomey announces his support for a new challenger to Don Young’s 34-year reign of corrupt dissipation. His column endorses the primary campaign of Alaska Lt. Governor Sean Parnell. I whole-heartedly second the motion.

Lt. Governor Parnell has lived in Alaska for thirty four years and owned a small law firm for many years before taking up politics. He has served as Governor Sarah Palin’s Lt. Governor since 2006. In keeping with Governor Palin’s intent to clean up the Alaska GOP and get back to serving the people of that state, Lt. Governor Parnell has now entered the fray against Congressman Young.

Those of us who not only want to see the GOP govern but also govern well, should welcome this campaign. As for the lawyers, guns and money that may well be required to purge the GOP of Congressman Young’s corrupting presence, avid sportsman and practicing attorney Lt. Governor Parnell can be counted on to take care of two out of the three. With the support of Club For Growth, he may come far closer to par with Congressman Young on the third as well.

We can gripe and complain about non-conservative Republican leaders all that we want. Until we support the efforts of more Conservative ones to end the mediocrity, it’s all just peeing the wrong way in an activated wind tunnel. So contact Lt. Gov. Parnell here, and lend him your support both financial and moral. He fights our battle.

this is what I was talking about the other day. we need to fan out and get behind all the conservatives that we can in as many states as we can. If we can help promote conservatives running in Alaska -- let's do it. Alabama -- sure. Wyoming and every Alphabetical state in between? You bet!
