Serious About Global Warming? Then Drop the Drumstick.

Didn’t think it could get any better than watching the Democrat candidates smear each other up and down the keystone state? Well take a look at the latest left-on-left slugfest sponsored by PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

PETA is attacking Al Gore’s dietary habits with a few global warming “facts” of its own. A list of statistics promoting the vegan lifestyle at the aptly named offsetalgore.com concludes that not eating meat is "the single most effective thing" you can do to reduce your climate change impact.

It is a very rare occasion indeed that you will find me in support of a PETA campaign, or as my cats refer to them “those dumpster demons”, because they tend to be focused more on self aggrandizement and silliness than the ethical treatment of animals. But when the dumpster demons attack the Goracle with his own eco-scam, I have a hard time not waving the pom-poms.

More below the fold…

For those of you not willing to brave the PETA site by clicking on offsetalgore.com, I have cited the relevant material below.

The following are a few inconvenient truths that the former V.P. ignores:

  • A major United Nations study determined that the meat industry generates 40 percent more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, SUVs, ships, and planes in the world combined.
  • Researchers at the University of Chicago concluded that going vegan is 50 percent more effective in combating the climate crisis than switching to a hybrid car.
  • The official handbook of the Live Earth concerts that Gore helped organize acknowledges that not eating meat is "the single most effective thing" you can do to reduce your climate change impact (emphasis in original).
  • Since Gore's addiction to meat is apparently stronger than his desire to secure a better future for our planet, we're asking those who recognize that actions speak louder than words to help offset Gore's greenhouse-gas emissions by pledging to go vegetarian for 30 days.

So if you are really serious about global warming Mr. Gore, then drop the drumstick!
