Just another Brick in the Wall

Government erected this wall.
Government buttressed this wall.
And before Sept. 11, government was blinded by this wall.~ John Ashcroft

Don’t let anyone fool you; walls and fences can be very effective tools in the fields of security and immigration. Used properly, they can provide a buffer zone, protection, and a secure area safe from encroachment… especially if you are a terrorist.

Read more below the fold…

The opening quotation is part of a 2004 statement made to the 9/11 Commission by then attorney general John Ashcroft in reference to the “Wall” in reference to restrictions placed on the Clinton era FBI by Jamie Gorelick.

Ms. Gorelick ordered Mr. Freeh and Ms. White to follow information-sharing procedures that "go beyond what is legally required," in order to avoid "any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance" that the Justice Department was using Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants, instead of ordinary criminal investigative procedures, in an effort to undermine the civil liberties of terrorism suspects.~Washington Times
CIA and FBI investigators leading up to 9/11 were purposely told to withhold pertinent information on terrorist suspects from one another to make sure this wall was not breached.

Since 9/11, the Bush administration has made considerable strides in breaching this wall which played a critical role in the fall of the Twin Towers, even though it did a swell job of protecting the civil liberties of illegal immigrant terrorists. Unfortunately now, our PC-progressive friends are busy putting up a new wall to protect criminals* and terrorists. And yes I said criminal instead of illegal immigrant or undocumented worker.

*Entering this country illegally means you have committed a crime and according to Merriam-Webster if you “break a public law and that makes the offender liable to punishment by that law” then you are a criminal.

This new “wall” is called the sanctuary city; oh doesn’t that sound so comforting. Its purpose is to shield the criminals living in said sanctuary protecting them from the evil federal government that may try to enforce the laws of our nation (really... the nerve of our government). In a sanctuary city, local law enforcement officials are forbidden to cooperate with immigration officials in the detection and removal of illegal immigrants. San Fransisco is one of the most well known sanctuary cities, but there are many more and the feel good practice is catching on with many progressive municipal governments that apparently have big hearts, but limited foresight.

In the case of the terror cell that was recently plotting a massacre at Ft Dix, the walls of these sanctuary cities came very close to expediting another terrorist victory on our shores.

BROTHERS CHARGED IN TERROR PLOT LIVED ILLEGALLY IN U.S. FOR 23 YEARS

Three brothers charged in the alleged Fort Dix terror plot have been living illegally in the U.S. for more than 23 years and were accepted as Americans by neighbors and friends who had no idea they would scheme to attack military bases and slaughter GIs.

A federal law enforcement source confirmed to FOX News that the three — Dritan "Anthony" or "Tony" Duka, 28; Shain Duka, 26; and Eljvir "Elvis" Duka, 23 — also accumulated 19 traffic citations, but because they operated in "sanctuary cites," where law enforcement does not routinely report illegal immigrants to homeland security, none of the tickets raised red flags.~FOX NEWS STORY

From a story that ran when Congressman Tancredo started his campaign to stop local governments from forming sanctuary cities, this statement makes it obvious why terrorists would also be attracted to these areas. ”Any immigration lawyer who has been practicing long enough will tell you that people who are in the U.S. with no legal immigration status know the locales where they are least likely to be apprehended by immigration authorities and where they can resort to public services without fear of being found out.”

WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING FOUND OUT

What will it take to make our governments to work as hard to keep the citizens as safe as the criminals and terrorists? It is my humble opinion that it will take more than just political activism, because the walls are already getting to high and too thick to breach. My guess is that it will take another successful terrorist attack before common sense begins to trump idealism and political correctness. Until then you can be rest assured that the terrorists and criminals will be resting easy, behind their protective walls.

You mean, nasty conservative. How dare you challange the rights of 'undocumented' workers?

Have you no kindness? They only reason their terrorists is because they are poor.
